Hi there. Nice to meet all of you guys. I'm a slightly neurotic thinker with a wide range of ideas on a lot of different subjects. Among those that interest me are lingustics, information theory, Game theory, Political Science, Mathematics, Statistics(new), The art of writing Fiction, and various other subjects that are too numerous to name.

Some things you might like to know about me are that I'm actually quite insecure. A lot of times I worry about things that I really shouldn't be worrying about, like how people will respond to my posts. It's a fallacy of mine to think that people naturally give as much weight and consideration to my posts than I do. As a result, I tend to get a little too excited when I post, thinking it's going to make this big splash or something. Then, when few people respond, I often get let down a bit. lol. It's god's practical joke, for sure.

Socially, I don't get out much, really. I'm more an introvert than anything else, but that doesn't mean I can't have a good time. In fact, some of the craziest stuff I've done, I've done when I was alone. It would be hilarious if I were comfortable enough with others to really let loose and be the brilliant conversationalist I imagine myself to be.

I like to eat. I love other cultures. Am Learning German. Just a whole bunch of stuff, really. But since it would be impossible to dissect my entire, complex life in a single post, I'm sure you guys will get to know more about me as I post more posts. So, Santo Ameni, I say to you, in the hope of getting to know you better. :detective:

@DasTrnegras,
Don't worry about how people will respond to your posts here. We have a good community here that is very accepting, but I am sure at times someone may give you a hard time. Don't let it discourage you though, that is the nature of a forum. But here, more often than not, we bounce ideas off of each other, and have constructive conversations. You sound a lot like how I was socially until rather recently. All it takes is a few others that think a lot like you to make you feel at ease, and let your true self loose. But of course, those people can often be difficult to come across.

Anyway, welcome to the forum, and we are glad to have you aboard. I hope you enjoy your stay!

@DasTrnegras,
Das and pagan, and forgive me Das for shortening your avatar; no disrespect intended. Communicating in words alone is indeed a task and one we all endeavor to perfect. It is totally different that using all he means at our disposal when face to face like eye contact; voice inflection, tone, ease, and intensity; body language, agressive and passive and so forth. Words can be an art in and of themselves if we take the time to contemplate the manner in which they will be "heard". Though I am a bit older, I am also rather new at this form of communication and try daily to perfect it. Kj (kaseijin) is one of the most eloquent members on the forum along with many others and we can all learn from them. (and he is Japanese). I was born in the United States and English can be a "foreigh language" to me when it comes to understanding it's usage.:perplexed: Hang in there as we will all learn the art of communication in the written word at least until something else comes along that will enable us to communicate more effectively.

Welcome both of you to this global ship. :a-ok:
