So I thought I would say hey.
I am a bit new to philosophy, and have decided to major in philosophy. I am going into my junior year of college. Pretty much have no idea at all what I want to do with my future and the only subject that really interests me is philosophy.
Ive browsed the forums a little bit and its pretty overwhelming. I don't even know where to begin. Its a little intimidating but these forums are really informative.
Some of my favorite philosophers are Marx, Lenin, Luxemburg, Nietzsche, Hegel, Siddhartha Gautama, D.T. Suzuki, Sartre, Derrida, Foucault, Althusser, Lukacs, Gramsci, Heidegger, Husserl.....most of the basics. I mainly like Marxism, Post Modernism, Existentialism, and Zen.
But I do not feel I fully grasp a lot of philosophy so I hope to further my knowledge on pretty much everything.
So that's it.
@minutemen,
Welcome to the forum, and thanks for introducing yourself. Don't let the forums intimidate you. Find a topic to jump into that interests you, because everyone needs to begin somewhere. We are glad to have you aboard and enjoy your stay on the forum.
@Theaetetus,
YAY marxists in the hizzzouse!
@minutemen,
You seem acquainted with most of the modern philosophers (and a couple of charlatans as well). But don't ignore the earlier philosophers from Plato to Kant, and perhaps use the forums to gain an understanding of them as well.
Welcome to the Philforums.
