@jvall92,
"The greatest challenge to any thinker is stating the problem in a way that will allow a solution." writes Russell. I would certainly consider reading his
History of Philosophy, which is not only well-written and witty, but will introduce you to the great philosophers and the ever self-renewing problems in philosophic thinking.
Philosophy begins in wonder, or confusion, or a critical glance at something that everyone commonly accepts as true or just. It employs reason, analysis, and careful argumentation to clarify its subjects. The best way to learn philosophy is to attempt to do it, and Philforum is a great place to make a start.
Welcome!
