Greetings,

After reading many of the post in the forum I decided to join and hang out for a while. I am impressed with the general openness and courtesy that most of you give to one another.
I have been interested in philosophy and the psychology of religion for many years. I had a few classes in the 80's at a junior college and it really stuck with me. I do not have a degree of any kind nor do I have an extensive background in mutable philosophical subjects that many of you here seem to have. I have been mostly quiet to myself with my home study of philosophy because most people find it boring or just not relevant. So now I think its time for me to get out and ask some questions and try out some of the notions that I have been chewing on for the past years.

@Jay phil,
HERE, at least philosophy is neither felt to be boring or not relevant to our lives---in fact, just the opposite, or we would not be here. You have found a congenial place to discuss philosophy and to exchange positions and ideas, and almost always in a courteous, open manner.
It does not take two degrees in philosophy to be able to think and to present ideas.
Welcome to the Forums.
John
