Ahoj means "hello" in Czech. Hello to you all in the philosophy forum. To introduce myself: I have a university degree in Math&Physics, working 10 years in programming and mobile telecom area, having 3 children. Born, educated, married, working in Prague, Czech republic.
I have a small piece of philosophy which will hopefully be interesting to you, and hopefully this forum will bring some feedback to me. Looking forward.
@Jch,
Welcome to the forums Jch.
Hallo means hello in Dutch, But so does ahoy. But that is traditionally used to hail a ship.
@Jch,
Thanks. I now checked Wikipedia and they say Czech "ahoj" comes from Navy greeting documented in 1751. Strange we do not have any sea.
@Jch,
A very warm welcome to the PhilosophyForum!
Regards,
John
