I am AmericanPop, a third year History and Political Science major who can best be described as a philosophical dabbler. My interests are broad and I have a basic understanding of many topics and a good sense of the 'larger' historical picture. Some works I have read that pertain to thought/philosophy include:

Plato's - The Republic
Aristotle's - The Politics
Passages from St Augustine's - City of God
Passages from St Thomas Aquinas' - Summa Theologica
Machiavelli's - The Prince
The first 30 chapters of Hobbes' - Leviathan
Rousseau's - Second Discourse
Hegel's - Philosophy of History
Nietzsche's - On the Advantages and Disadvantages of History for Life
Carl Becker's - Heavenly City of the 18th Century Philosophers
Robert Prisig's - Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance
Modris Eksteins' - Rites of Spring

I have also taken modern intellectual history courses that have covered Ideas from the French Revolution to the Present. I am currently in the midst of completing Ayn Rand's - Atlas Shrugged and Nietzsche's - Beyond Good and Evil. I look forward to some constructive dialogue.

Good book. Long, and Dagny makes me feel like less of a man, but it is a good book. Are you on Part 3 yet?

@de Silentio,
I just met Ragner Danneskjold for the first time, so no I'm about half way through. As somebody who has typically sympathized with the left, this book is opening some new perspectives.

You're right, it's a massive book and Ayn Rand is playing with a lot of issues. It's been hard to keep all of her positions straight but I realize that it's a work of fiction, not a philosophical treatise. Oh, and the fact that I'm only half way through (but it's been a swift read).
