Do you find you are braver here than in your skin and air?

Are you more sure of your ink than your breath?

Has this forum helped you become more solid or sure of your reality in the world?

Have you found that you belong and have placement upon this earth by being here?

What inner strengths have you found by being here that you have been able to exhibit to the rest of the universe?

@sometime sun,
I never really think it is about bravery (or something similar). It is simply a matter of fact that there are more people on a philosophy forum wishing to philosophize than there is at my job , home, or even with my friends.

Although philosophy often comes up while engaging friends, it really is not the same drawn out dialog that can be captured within the longer time frame on a forum.

And, at the least, this place serves as a training ground for the real world. In debate class and law, you get to know what your opponent is going to claim ahead of time; but in philosophy, anything that comes to mind is often used.

I am not suggesting that it is essential to philosophy that one know the quibblings of pop-philosophy, but one can only learn to philosophize by doing it. Nothing can substitute the real thing.

Does philosophy fulfill you?
Are you weaker without it in your life?

Converstaional skills i am weak with in person i tend to nod agreement or shake my head in woe, does this place with its dialog give you words to speak to your friends where if not trained here you would be empty mouthed?

So does this place philosophy give you a better purchase on reality?
If so are you not more available to life by being ready and able to see it for what it is or not?
Can not the antisipation that unknowing make you more or less afraid of inevitables or inconsequentials or the unknowable.
Are you more less afraid of the dark by knowing light will come go or can you accpet the dark more by coming to love the lightless?

The act of philosophizing does not fulfill me. I try at metaphors, and I spend the remainder of the day seeing how obscure and patently false they are. And I don't take the time to point this out to later, but hope that I might have a better one in the future.

Without that which I have read by philosophers, yeah, I'd be a bumbling heathen. I try not to be these days, but the persistence of my bad philosophizing is always a cue that my life is still not free of those things that ruin a good mind (vanity, sin, hypocrisy).

I have said so much these past years that I mostly feel like starting from scratch. I never opposed the views of my friends so that they might adopt my own. Monday, on my birthday, one told me Descartes was a hack (something I've said repeatably). The conversation did not really interest me, although he said a few points I had not heard before.

I am trying, with difficulty, to follow the new conception of philosophy that Wittgenstein laid out over the course of many books and lectures. I am mostly left with silence these days in that regard.

To my girlfriend I speak to of all my torments, and she often has a word or two for advice. But with my friends, silence fills the room. In a certain sense, I am mostly silent on these forums as well...

I was speaking more of fond memories in that paragraph. I might be in some sort of transitional period in regards to light/dark metaphors. Tautology/Contradiction do me well.

When I first started really posting on these boards, I started with the Chicken/ Egg question. Trying to be like W, I said that there is no 'resolution' to this 'problem'- and therein lies everything. And so it seems that no matter what questions science ponders or even answers, the most important ones always slip past it. And therein lies the 'resolution' to this 'problem'.

A distraction, these days; but in defense of others, a preparation.

I have liked your posts and try to read them when they catch my eye. These posts were a bit difficult to read, however, in some spots.

But what of your thoughts on the matter?

@jack phil,
The egg came first.

I am the same with disecting my metaphors, i cant be bothered to correct them then and there but know i am self corrected and will wait to share the next level sometime else, you cant spend your life trying to correct your wrongs, instead i think we need build new rights.
The past is dead.
Which means the present is life.
I am present here.
I am alive and at task.
Achievement is blissful.

I have been in a metaphoric and literal nightmare and mental prison most of my life,
this place has given me the keys of liberation, true freedom is expression.
Which kind of means you need to trap the light in order to share it.
Light is form.
I have much more purchase on my light here and wish to dazzle you and the entire world.
More so i know i can and have.
Infact as i said losely if you dont share your light you are leaving to much room for darkness to creep in.
Being a luminary is my job and a worthy profession.
I wish to be professor of illumination.
BUt as you say i can be dificult to read sometimes, sometimes i have a hard time writting, but this place has given me the bravery to not quit or run at the chance of failure as the rewards are still coming.
I am invested.
This is my church,
my prayers can be heard.
Even if still at times unanswered.

No. I understand more of people than of electronica.

Are you more sure of your ink than your breath?
Blood is ink to me, breathing is living.

Has this forum helped you become more solid or sure of your reality in the world?
Yes. But it could have been an-other Forum too.

Have you found that you belong and have placement upon this earth by being here?
No. But it's better than being drunk every day. Or bored.

What inner strengths have you found by being here that you have been able to exhibit to the rest of the universe?
What Universe ?

The forum a good thing in my life. I was paranoide of computers a decade. Now I understand my fears. They were justifiable. It's a Matter over Mind thing now. I got to know people behind the screens and call them friends. Real friends you can physically meet; that's different.

YO meet on the Forum; we are All Forummers and might become friends in the future. That doesn't mean manners do not matter. I think there should be a Speakers Room where people can be rude and loud without bothering other people. If I was in the mood I would join in.

PS the Forum confronted me with Trust. Trusting myself & Others. Faith is not equal to doom. Yes we can X the Gap Atlantis left US with.

Do or did we ever really hatch?
