Hi -
So here I am, yet another human being captured by something called "philosophy". Just like you a victim of the need to understand and learn (new) things. But first things first, and allow me to introduce myself. I'm Frank, currently living in the European Union (The Netherlands). I'm 18 years old, and as my name implies male (even though my nickname is (indeed as you supposed) female).
Months back I was a victim of the Wikipedia effect (seeing all kinds of links that interest you, ending up reading about the life of "Joan of Arcadia", while you were searching for TV show) and finally ended up reading all about Nietzsche's theory of the Ubermensch. And like a chain reaction I finally ended up with some of Nietzsche's books. Later on i started reading Thus Spake Zarathustra which really spoke to me from the first page. But due to a series of unfortunate events I had to put it aside for a few months, which has finally resolved in being 3 months further and still being at page 48. Anyhow, I've got time again and decided to start reading Nietzsche again.
The urge for understanding [everything] has always been with me, but came more apparent the last few years. I've always been a more critical thinker than most people who surround me. I signed up to the philosophy forum in the hopes to explore the philosophical world, with people who also take interest in it. I usually don't bother signing up to forums anymore, since most die pretty quickly or are overpopulated making it impossible to have a decent conversation. I made an exception for philosophyforum.com since from the looks of it is active and from the (random) topics I have read the people here are knowledgeable (unlike some other forums I won't mention here).
I also started reading Mastering Philosophy (second edition) by Anthony Harrision-Barbet which proves to be a really interesting - but difficult - book which made me look for online help, which stranded me here. As mentioned above I hope I will learn a lot here (as well might learn other people things)
Frank
@Vasska,
Hi, Frank!
It's good to have you. Welcome to the forum! There is so much to learn here. I'll look forward to seeing you around the forum.
@Vasska,
Welcome to the Philosophy Forum Vassaka! Nice intro!
Certainly happy you've decided to join the forum and do hope you find it to be of value in your journey. I too have been bitten by the philosophy bug and it keeps biting. How anyone can go through life without pondering what it all means is beyond me. Anyway, glad to have you as a member and look forward to your participation.
