Best beer I have ever had was St. Bernardus abt 12 . I also Like Delirium Tremens. I haven't had a Belgian beer I didn't like.
The higher the alcoholic content the better the taste generalllllly..or is it you remember the effect rather than the taste?

@xris,
As a rebel youth, lol, it was all about the Volume of alcohol. Steel Reserve was the best. something like 8%. Taste wasnt our concern. A couple years later and I prefer tastier drinks over heavier buzz or even aquiring certain types of buzzes. I enjoy mixed drinks now. White Russians are my favorite in the summer.

If it was simply for the effect, I would have just got some hard liquor. I don't really like to get drunk using beer; too much liquid sitting in your stomach and then in your bladder:Not-Impressed:.

@Leonard,
To Zetetic 11235 (This kind of threads grow like h...):

Because belgian beer is simply the best! From subjective taste to objective statement is always a huge jump, but not when it concerns belgian beer. Belgium: small in size but big in beer. Ouf, I need a drink now...

@Leonard,
But not only that, Didymos...not only that. Belgians are also renown for their chocolate, pommes frietes, and most especially waffles. Mmmm... let go of my Belgian eggo. I tried a lambic beer a while ago and I didnt really care for it, was kinda sour. Although, the alcholic content of Belgian beer is a lot higher than other beers. And from what I have just recently learned, there are over 500 Belgian brands of Beer.

And in the caf?s (pubs or inns or whatever) there is mostly an awful lot of choice. Some caf?s specialise in beer tasting, offering many national as well as international brands. If I remember well, a caf? in Antwerp has nine hundred brands of beer on the card (I didn't wrote 900, as you could think that was a typo). Whatever the precise number of beers brewn here, there are few countries in the world with such a ratio of beer brands versus inhabitants. Hey, it seems we are better known in the States than I expected (yes yes, I sense some irony Wink). Now I have to add something negative... Damn, can't find anything. I'll be back when I do ;-) .

@Leonard,
Of the 2-3 times i've driven through Belgium, i've had a few of their very fine drinks. If I could remember the name, I'd have to say that one of them was the tastiest i've ever had, and it had a fairly high alcohol content. I don't drink for the effect, I mostly drink when I'm at a restaurant that serves beer or at a party. I also prefer lagers only because I like the nice, bitter taste.

@Leonard,
This little documentary on an interesting cultural phenomenon. Image quality is low but it's informative and correct. I said it before and I will say it again. Belgium: small in size, big in beer! Santee!

Mmmm...I have been enjoying some excellent imperial stouts and double IPA's lately, thanks to living in good old Wisconsin.

@Leonard,
I used to enjoy New Glarus quite a bit, when I lived in Madison. Nothing like enjoying a fresh pitcher of spotted cow right in the student union!
