Hey, my name is Jacob. I am only 16, but I hope that I am a bit mature for my age. I, of course, love philosophy. I actually started a philosophy club at my school. I also love history, so I try and look back into the opinions of past times for inspirations on my own world view. I personally like to call myself neutral. I try to be objective and critical of everything, because bias only distorts. I try to use kindness when permitted, but admit when being a bleeding heart does not fit. I am Jewish, but do not really believe in any tradition. Instead, I have a Daoist look on the supernatural. That there is a force behind everything, but it is suddle, and neutral. So yeah, those are the outlines of my beliefs. A little tedious, but this is a philosophy forum after all, so I believe that it is appropriate. Oh, and I'm an anarchist. I believe in tribal society.
As for personal things. I am gay. I like to act and sing. I love to read. Wicked, Alice in Wonderland, As A Driven Leaf, Walden (as my username implies), Catcher in the Rye, things like that. I live in New Jersey. I love history. I melt when I see a dog. I can't stand fashion, and hate when people say, "You should have good fashion, you're gay." Put me in something comfortable and tell me to hike up a hill with no reception and I'll ask, "How soon?" Yosemite National Park is my favorite place in the world. Anyway, I'm glad to here. Sorry for being so windy.
@Walden,
People interested in philosophy often break social stereotypes because they have, through thinking in uncommon ways, achieved a kind of independence of mind and spirit. I hope your sojourn here at Philforum will not only give you a chance to discuss philosophy and philosophical problems, but to grow and learn different philosophical perspectives and positions.
A very warm welcome to Philforum!
Regards,
John
