welcome stephen but isn't your title a little misleading? You have had so many discussions on other forums turn into philosophical debates that you are now finally joining a philosophy forum? So these other forums were non philosophical in their content but you had philosophical debates there?

We don't have any philosophical discussions here either. At least none that I can find.

What is a philosophical discussion?

I assume what you are saying is that on other forums general discussion topics, most likely about current issues, often turn into philosophical debates of some sort, so you decided to "eliminate the middle-man" and join a philosophy forum.

Here, but more on purpose, these discussions of events and problems begin with a philosophical approach, and these approaches (or positions) themselves are often the subject themselves.
