I am currently in the US Navy nearing the terminus of my enlistment. I started reading philosophy while I was underway. I have found it very difficult to find people to discuss philosophy with, this forum has done wonders to remove that feeling of alienation. Everyone told me that I should not think like that and it is not good for me. I am planning on studying philosophy in the fall of 2010, saying that brings much joy to me. I hope I can contribute to this wonderful forum and further my own thoughts. My name was one of Kierkegaard's pseudonyms. Thank you.

@Climacus,
It is often the case that those who think philosophically cannot find campanions and camerados close at hand, or must contend against those who dismiss such thinking as unimportant or a waste of one's time.
Here at Philforum, at least, you will not find such Philistines, but others like yourself who are in earnest about the importance of philosophical thinking.
Welcome to Philforum!
Regards,
John
