One very good resource would be the police, or any variety of government/public services offices who often have pamphlets lying around or even the possibility of scheduling time with a counselor to advise you. I realize in some cases it can be hard to seek help without being found out, but these are the more experienced and equipped people who can be informed of the situation and help walk you through it.
