SPAM
Yet again I find myself writing to complain about the level of spamming that is going on on the various threads on this forum.

They are always either to intice people into Gambling or Pornography.

Most ex-members fled CoG/Family to get away from sexual abusive situations, it is sickening to have spammers come in here uninvited trying to tempt us back into potentially abusive situations again.

I, believe that in order to post on the forum people should have to sign up so that should they be spammers they can have their postings blocked!

Yeah, we get a lot of spam, but it is typically removed a couple minutes to a few hours after it is posted, so the majority of users will see much less than we actually deal with.

Requiring registration before posting on the forums is an option we're certainly keeping open and eventually we may be forced to take that route.

After being temporarily turned off, guest posting by unregistered or non-logged in users has been enabled but visual confirmation (Captcha)
is now required. Previously, it was only required for registration. This should eliminate most of the spam posts we have been getting.

However, one problem with the visual confirmation system we are using is that it is not accessible to visually impaired users. There are other confirmation systems that provide those users with the option to use an audio captcha but I am not aware of this being available for phpBB (the forum software we use). Until one does became available, those users should contact the editors for assistance.
