Family songs in tribute to Zerby
I'd like to add links to more songs dedicated to Zerby to our article about her (with lyrics when audio is not available).

One question, was 'All Hail to the Queen' written about her? I was under that impression, but looking at the lyrics for the second verse I'm not so sure.

Second, if anyone has access to FTT#9 "Destined", I'd like to use the "official" copy of "Lady Maria" from there instead of the live cover of the song by Rebellion of David.

Following are lyrics and chords to some songs dedicated to Zerby, courtesy of the Ultimate Family Songbook.

Quote:

QUEEN MARIA

I have (G6)dreamed thee too (Bm)long,
Never (G6)touched thee, nor (Bm)seen thee
But (C)known thee with (D)all of my (Gmaj7)heart,
Half a (G6)prayer, half a (Bm)song,
Thou hast (G6)always been with (Bm)me
Though we (C)have been (Am)always a(D)part

Chorus One:
Queen (G)Maria, Queen (Em)Maria,
I see (Cmaj7)heaven when I (D7)see thee Queen (Gmaj7)Maria,
And thy (C)name is like a prayer that angel's (F)whisper,
Queen (D7)Maria, Queen (G)Maria

If I (G6)reach out to (Bm)thee,
Do not (G6)tremble nor (Bm)shirk
From the (Am)touch of my (D)hand on thy (Gmaj7)hair,
Let my (G6)fingers (Bm)assure
Thou art (G6)warm and a(Bm)live
And no (C)phantom to (Am)fade in the (D)air

Chorus Two:
Queen (G)Maria, Queen (Em)Maria,
I have (Cmaj7)sought thee, sung thee,
(D7)Dreamed thee Queen (G)Maria,
And now I've (C)found thee
And the (Am)world shall know thy (F)glory,
Queen (D7)Maria, Queen (G)Maria

Quote:

And promise to (C)keep her(D)

(A)Be right be(C)side her
As the (G)darkness covers the (D)world
Holding her (C)flame in her (G)hand
(A)And when the (C)trouble comes
She'll (G)know that I'll be (D)near
(D)To give her the (C)Words of the (G)End
The Words of the (A)End(C)

[Repeat Chorus]

(A)And when the (C)trouble comes
She'll (G)know that I'll be (D)near

Quote:

MAMA --THAT'S YOU

(G)She (Am)picks me (G)up when (D)I'm (G)down,
Her (Am)smile era(G)ses (D)my (G)frown,
She (Am)knows my (G)hurt and (D)she (G)cares,
With her (Am)heart my (G)trouble (D)she (G)bears
(D)Mama, (Am)that's (G)you (Am)-(G)-(D)-(G)

She's proud when I've done my best,
Even if I fail the test,
She knows it's just one loss,

(D)Mama, (Am)that's (G)you (Am)-(G)-(D)-(G)

Chorus:
So (Em)help me every (F)day to be the (Em)way that you (C)are,
Like (Em)David I (F)pray to be (Em)close to your (Bb)-(D7)heart

She helps me when things go wrong,
She lifts me up with her song,
I won't give up the fray,
'cause for my strength she prays
(D)Mama, (Am)that's (G)you (Am)-(G)-(D)-(G)

She's cared for me so many years,
And kissed away all my tears,
Patiently watching me grow,
Teaching what I need to know
(D)Mama, (Am)that's (G)you (Am)-(G)-(D)-(G)

Bridge:
(Am)Time can't tell of (Bm)all you've done to (C)teach me,
Train me (D)as a son, of (G)faith you've had to (Em)see afar,
And of a (C)truth I say you (D7)are, (C)Mama, (D7)yes (G)you (Am)-(G)-(D)-(G)
Mama... that's you

LORD BYRON'S SURRENDER

Composed by Ezra Milestone

Spoken:
The (E)picture was of a (D)knight
Returning from many (A)wars
Sad and (B)wounded
And he was sur(E)rendering to his queen at last
It was as though he had (D)fought being in her service(A)
But now he was making his (B)final surrender(E)
Byron rides up to the grandstand
And lowers his lance to the queen

There (E)once was a knight in (D)shining armor
He (B)had a lady so (E)fair
He (E)went up to fight in (D)foreign battles(A)
For his (B)life he had no (D)care
Only to serve his (A)lovin' lady
And the (E)subjects of the land
To kneel be(D)fore the queen
And sur(A)render his life
She (E)took Lord Byron's hand
He said(F#m):
"I am thy valiant (A)prince, Lord Byron
Re(E)ceive me now, I (B)pray

I bow (F#m)down and give to (A)you my honor
I (E)give it unto you this (B)day
I (D)give it unto you this (A)day"

(E)Oo(D)oo(A)oo(B)-(E)-(E)oo(D)oo(A)oo(B)-(E)

(E)"Thou hast fed my (D)hungry heart(A)
And given (B)drink to my (E)soul
Be(E)hold how I pledge my (D)loyalty(A)
To the (B)end of the world I will (D)go
And I will (A)fight your battles
I'll (E)fight unto my last day
And I'll (D)love you with the (A)same devotion

And I'll (E)wear your colors in the (B)fray
I'll (D)wear your colors in the (A)fray
(F#m)I am thy valiant (A)Prince Lord Byron
Re(E)ceive me now, I (B)pray
I bow (F#m)down and give to (A)you my honor
I (E)give it unto you this (B)day
I (D)give it unto you this (A)day"

Unrelated, but if anyone has a copy of FTT#15 "HeartBeat" and can get us an mp3 copy of the following song, I'd like to highlight it on Category: Family Music and Audio.

All Hail to the Queen
Monger - I believe that song All Hail to the Queen is actually from Berg's ranting about mother's with a ton of children being like a Queen. I do remember how we got some sort of recognition once we had over 7 children, some sort of plaque where we were given the title of "Queen." I don't think you'd ever see Maria washing and cleaning.

Re: All Hail to the Queen
Acheick is right about that song: "All hail the Queen, the mother unseen" (people used to say children should be seen and not heard, but in this version women should be unseen -- stay pregnant & barefoot when possible and if designated a handmaiden to men/baby factory, maybe by saying she's a queen we'll keep her in that position longer"
