Wanted to say a few words to the X-family
Hi all. I was never in the family, and never knew anything about it until recently. When Matthew Murray killed 4 people and then himself in Colorado this weekend, that's when I learned of Ricky Rodriguez (this nutjob Matthew tried to compare his life to Ricky's, which couldn't be further from the truth).

To say that I've been in a state of shock in reading about all of this is not nearly strong enough words.

I said a "few words" (and I'll do my best, but that's not my best trait).

I've been a major reader of true crime for years now, and my biggest passion has been working to help uncover pedophiles for the last 5 years or so. There's a site called perverted-justice.com that I volunteer at, you may have seen the Dateline stings before.

I haven't been able to stop reading this site, and googling as much as I can about this horrible cult. I don't mean to offend, because being a pretty impressionable person myself, I would have most likely been indoctrinated pretty quickly myself.

But what some of you have gone through, I'm just so sorry. I've been crying off and on for 2 days reading all of this information. To think that Berg and Maria did all of this in the name of God. I hope he died a slow and painful death, and that she'll die one also someday.

Children are so precious, and I just can't imagine the molestation that was preached by this monster.

Anyway, I wanted to just reiterate how so very sorry I am to those of you that endured this pain.

Not one person I spoke to knew about this cult, with the exception of a few true crime posters I talk to. Is there a way to spread word about their rhetoric that any of you have found noteworthy?

Thanks for letting me rant.

Kim

No, Matthew Murray wasn't in the family, he was raised Pentecostal, which is a far cry from the family. Some are saying that the Pentecostal church is a form of abuse, but the people saying that don't know what abuse is, IMO. God, especially after reading about Ricky and some of the other "family" youth. MM was raised in a very strict religious home that actually (go figure) taught against premarital sex. He never felt like he fit in, and later joined the LDS, than even dabbled in an occultist homosexual church for awhile. All the while, posting inane dribble on the web, which ended in a killing spree of Christians that he didn't even know. Coward, unlike Ricky Rodriguez.

I'd like you to know that I've made a lot of people aware of Ricky and the Family this week, but really want to know what we can do to raise awareness based on y'all's experience. I mean, is there a group that resides here in the South? I imagine talking to the existing members is very much like talking to a Mormon, but to stop other's from joining would be so great. Anyway...

Chris Forcand was in Canada, I don't think Perverted Justice has done anything out of the states actually. I also read about this a week or so ago, and I think I recall it being the police that did the sting. The reason I remember that is they were saying too many amateurs are on the web trying to catch Pedo's, and it messes things up for the police sometimes. Which is actually a very true statement.

Below is the relevant paragraph:

Quote:
Murray also was apparently posting to a different forum under the name DyingChild_65, and may have foretold of his rampage there, too. In one posting, he refers to one of the Columbine killers and the gunman who opened fire at Virginia Tech. He also mentioned Ricky Rodriguez, who stabbed a prominent member of a church once known as the Children of God, then shot himself in the head in 2005. The group had been accused of sexually and physically abusing child members during the 1970s and 1980s.
