This is so similar to what we went through in the COG. I believe that the native people who were put into residential schools also went through very similar abuses. Either way... the feeling of loss of childhood, unloved, uncared for, beaten and sexually/mentally abused. Here in Canada the residential school issue is often in the media. The government has offered apologies to these people any many of them have received large settlements, I wish we could get the same. Obviously, the damage has been done and we will always be emotionally scared people, but all the same, an apology would go a long way.
