Certification - Nurse Practitioner
I was recently hired to help with some administrative duties for a nurse practioner. She is so dedicated to her job, her patients, prevention and the community, that I have fallen in love with her and helping her!
She has a problem I have been unable to find answers on, as has she. Time is of the essense her. I am hoping someone out there can point me in a direction as I'd love to help her.
A small amount of background.... As she returned from a much deserved vacation in 2004, as soon as she landed, on the way home, she learned her brother in law (whom she is very close to) had passed out in front of the college class he teaches at a local university. That indicent, led to a 2 1/2 year battle for his life, that he ultimately lost, against brain cancer. She put her own life on hold during that time assist his wife, whom she is also very close to, and simply help care for him and their two young children. The devastation to the whole family was huge.
During that time, actually right after he died, she likely got the letter about the certification renewal. She was still helping this family as they now are in a huge financial mess. She tried to keep up on her own mail and life at the time but some things slipped thru the cracks.
So, fast forward to about four weeks ago, as her birthday approached she decided to dig all the paperwork out for renewals and this would be the first time she has had to do a certification renewal due to the 5 yr. term, she was shocked to learn the certification expired last year as she was going thru the death of her brother in law. She understands she missed it, paperwork problem her fault. She has about three times the amount of hours she needs as she is a huge believer in education. She has requirements met hands down, the forms didn't get filled out.
I'm sure the certification people are very busy but we have been unable to get any definate response. Has anyone gone thru a lapse, in excess of six months but under one year, of their certification?
What needs to happen? What did you need to do? Re take exams?
Her state license expired on her recent birthday and we are still struggling to get answers and getting NO WHERE!
She provides care to a very underserved part of the community and they need her back on the job asap...any ideas how to help?
Thanks so much and I'm so sorry for long explanation but as you can tell this has touched my heart and I really want to help.
