Hi . . . just wanted to introduce myself.
My name is Amanda, I'm 21 y/o from California.
I've been a CNA for nearly 5 years in LTC and acute care in a small rural facility. I've been going to school to get my LVN for a year and a half . . . only six months to go. My dream is to become an RN, and then I would like to become a flight nurse or MICU nurse. I LOVE action.
Anywho I just wanted to introduce myself and meet others in the medical profession.

Amanda

Hello new here.
Hello everyone. My name is Carla. I'm a new nursing grad. I've work in a hospital for 18 years though. I enjoy nursing, but the field has changed dramatically. I'm from NY. In my hospital the nurse to patient ratio is 1:8-10. I feel this is very dangerous, but people have been doing it for years. I don't know.

Hi Everyone!

My name is Barb Have been an LPN since '93, but was a paramedic for 15 years prior.
Worked agency in St Louis for 10 years, then decided to travel. Came up to the Eastern Shore, then Wisconsin, then back to the Eastern Shore. Met the Love of my life here and have settled in. Very Happy Small towns, small hospitals have a lot to be proud of, but I am missing the large city (not the traffic). :lol
I have grandchildren in Atlanta and St Louis. Don't get to see them as much. I miss that even more. Sad Love reading the different posts, hearing that most of us suffer, and cheer for the same reasons.[/i]

Hello Babs.
Hello, Carla here. Thanks for responding. Where on the eastern Shore are you?/ Do you mean East coast?? I live in NY. I love nursing and taking care of people, but working med-surg. could burn you out fast. What nursing file are you i?

Hey Carla
I am in Flat Windy Delaware..Milford to be exact. But don't work in the hospital that is closest to me. I have worked in all spots of the hospital. I am tele certified, working a med/surg-ortho area right now...Also has peds, but the most I do for them is distract them while someone else is starting the IV or whatever.. I worked a LOT of Psych while living in my hometown of St Louis. I always told the staff that I get along so well with the patients, because I was as Crazy as they were...I was a paramedic for 15 years and would LOVE to get into an ER..Slowly working my way there..have offered to help when they were short handed..Other than that I have worked long term care, med offices, clinics, occ health, and the burn unit...So I usually just move to another hospital or another area if I get too bored..
When I am not at work I am usually going on day trips with my friends or working on crafts.
