Hi shaab0117, As a nurse for 30 years (mostly E.R.), I think one of the most important things to always remember is don't be rushed giving medications without verifying the "5 rights". And double check peds doses. I've seen many nurses make horrible med errors that could have been avoided by double checking and verifying orders. Call the pharmacist with any questions (and chart it).

Hope this helps!

Alway, always err to the side of caution in any nursing job. Take time to stop and look up a medication that you aren't sure of. Ask a veteran nurse a question if you are unsure of the answer. Most nurses will drop what they are doing to come and show you a procedure, dressing change, whatever. Don't ever feel too proud to ask the question, you will avoid harm or complications to the patient. It takes awhile to feel comfortable making certain decisions in the field of nursing. That's okay. Take the time, ask the questions and keep yourself and the patients safe. Smile Best luck, it is very rewarding and sometimes wonderful...
