How to cope...
Hi...
Well, after being in Healthcare for 25 years, the coping part is now easier than the work. Well, OK, the work's not as stressful as it was 2 years ago too... I'm a Flight/ER RN in NV. I only have 24 hour responsibility while I'm on flight duty. It's kind of a bitch not knowing when you're going to fly. That sucks. That in itself is stressful. The unknown details of the calls are cool though. It's interesting to always find out that the story does usually change once you're on scene... Anyway... Working the ER is only 12 hours. The same applies to the patients that come to me. After I'm off from both, I come home, watch movies, hang out w/ friends, work out, play golf, mountain-bike, ski, !DO NOT! "Talk Shop" outside of work on a regular basis and partake in the liquid refreshment of ETOH... Having friends in the same field and different ones too, shares a balance and allows me to NOT dwell on the daily stressors of the job. Just remember, there's always WORSE things...
Havagooday...
