I think I got bit by a spider...PLEASE HELP!!
I have a firm white dot on my arm which has a large red circle around it. It is painful. I tried to pop it but nothing comes out. The red around the dot is getting bigger. Due to me not having insurance I haven't went to the doctor. Anyone know what this is? I will be glad to send a picture. PLEASE HELP!!

Spider bites are usually minor and self-limiting events, but you don't say what type of spider bit you. If it was a black widow or brown recluse spider, then you need to see a doctor, health insurance or not.

Look in the phone book for your local Poison Center or call 1-800-222-1222, and they can help you with your question.

The following web site can help you find a poison center

First off thanks you for replying. I have no idea what bit me. I woke up and there was a pimple like dot on my arm. I thought it was a pimple at first, but it continued to get bigger.

I have done some more research and I think I might have a boil or a staph infection. I have tried warm compresses, hot baths, Ichthammol ointment I have given in and I will be going to see the doctor tommorow. I will give an update when I find out for sure what this thing is

I went to the doctor this morning. He said it looked like a spider bite. He gave me 4 days worth of 1000mg amoxicillin. He said if it hasn't went down by then then he has to cut it open. Sad I hope it does go away. It is painful enough as it is. Just thinking about that hurts.

It has now been a week since I got bit. The medicine doesn't seen to be working like I had planned. I pulled a thin layer of skin off the wond and noticed that I had two holes. As if the pain isn't enough my arm is starting to go numb. If it gets worse I will be going to a different doctor hopefully tomorrow.

After sitting in 3 waiting rooms and paying out of the ying yang I (hopefully) got this mess taking care of. This morning I went to the doctor that I first seen. He told me that the spider bite turned into a staph infection. He cut all the mess out and stuffed the wound. It feels better because of the fact that it isn't swollen and fevered and all that stuff. I will be so relieved when it is healed up. I definatly learned my lesson to quit listening to what people think (2 nurses and my grandma) and go to a doctor. No offense to all of the nurses but I think some of them buy their RN license from walmart.
As for the ones that know what they are doing and actually care about their paitents thank you!!!

ALWAYS....
See a doctor or nurse practitioner instead of coming to an Internet Forum for such important advice about your health! THANK GOD, your arm is healing!!!
Blessings to you!
