drug testing in the diversion program
Would like to know if anyone has tested positive for the alcohol metabolite ETG while in the diversion program, who has NOT drank alcohol and believes the test is faulty. Here in San Diego almost 25% of the nurses in the diversion program have tested positive and have had consequences placed on them, like work suspension or extra time in the program. These nurses have not relapsed and it is very upsetting that the test has not been reformulated. The test research was done almost exclusively on men, and there may be differences in women's metabolism that cause the metabolite to appear more readily. We have taken into account the incidental alcohol that is found in foods and topical treatments. Any feedback would be appreciated
