Climbing out of a helicopter in Banda Aceh, Indonesia in late February, Kathi Kissane was swarmed by children and immersed in scorching heat. The Frederick nurse was overwhelmed, she said, by the wreckage of the Dec. 26, 2004, tsunami that had left 176,000 dead in 11 Southeast Asian countries.
