How can I be a nurse when Im allergic to latex
Hey everyone,
Im a nursing student just starting out and have came across the problem of being allergic to latex. Is it possible to still be a nurse in a hospital setting that uses latex on an everyday basis. I know there are latex-free products, but have any of you seen it done?

Missie! It depends on how serious your latex allergy is. I worked with a nurse whose allergy to latex was so severe she got SOB, hives, and dizzy just from latex particles in the air! This allergy developed so suddenly, she had to leave bedside nursing and is now, in education.
I also work with nurses where latex makes their hands itch, so they wear latex-free gloves and are fine.
So it really is up to you and how you react to latex!
Good luck!!
Peace,
Skyla
