ADN or BSN when I have a BA
I had a question concerning what nursing program to go into. I'm graduating from Texas A&M in August with a BA in English. I was wondering whether I should go into a ADN program or a BSN one. The ADN program looks very attractive since the two years with them will cost less than one semester at a BSN program. At the moment I don't have aspirations of management, so I was wondering if the BSN program is worth it, especially if I can get financial help from my employer in the future. I'm looking in the DFW area of Texas if anyone is familiar with the programs around here.
So ADN or BSN? And if you know anything about the programs around here, which program?
If you are certain that you will never want to pursue other things, then by all means, do the ADN, but I usually encourage people with a bachelor's degree in another field to pursue one of the advanced degrees. There are bridge programs that will allow you to get a master's degree or higher if you already have another degree. But it's your decision to make.
Do whatever will work best for you at this time in your life. Maybe start with the ADN especially if you dont plan on management. But, most schools also have bridge programs from RN to MSN now so you can go right from an ADN to a MSN too.

I agree with going through an RN Bridge program and get your BSN! You will be so glad you did, and then, you will never be limited as to work options for the many positions that require BSNs! Good luck!!
