Interview Questions
Hello everyone,
I am preparing for an interview with a methadone clinic and I already got heads up on what type of interview questions I'll be asked and there is this one question that I can't seem to come up with a response that I'm satisfied with so I'm looking for some input, all responses will be graetly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
The question is:
"If one of our clients asked you for money, would you give it to him? and why"
Now keep in mind that these are opioid addicted individuals that are being treated for their addiction.
Would you ever give a client money? I believe that the answer to this is no and the reason is that it crosses a professional boundary
I agree the answer should be no, but you could probably expand that and offer to refer them to a case manager or social worker to assist with finding programs to help the patient.
The straight up answer is "No, I wouldn't give the client money, but I need more information about this client to help them". The reason: You assume that this person wants money to buy drugs, but they could be facing a true financial hardship, so you don't want to just write them off as drug-seekers. But you need this client's history, including their mental health history. And you need to ask some clarifying questions to re-direct this person to the right resources if they truly have a financial need (could be homeless, etc. etc.). Then, when you call the case manager, you will have a better handle on what the client needs from them.
