Nurses are in demand, but there aren't enough of them to fill that demand, according to the United State Department of Health and Human Services. About 150,000 nurses are needed nationwide - about 1,600 in Louisiana - and if nothing changes, the shortage will reach 2,600 in the state in 10 years.
