Please help me make a decision!
I need some real opionions from anyone here. I am having a very hard time deciding on whether to go into a LPN program or a medical assisting program. I have always wanted to be a nurse but at this point in my life I want to finish a program that is short term. The LPN program is 12 months and it is a diploma program. The medical assisting program is an associate degree program and it is 18 months long. I can not decide what to do I have been researching and finding both good and bad comments on both careers and I need someone to be real with me. I have read that LPN's are slowly being fazed out. I am a C.N.A and work for a hospital and yes through the years the jobs there have been decling but not fazed out all the way. I see so many jobs available in the paper for LPN's and also medical assistants. I already make between $12-14 now as a C.N.A and want to know the amount to expect as a LPN and CMA. I would hate to goto school and only make what I make now or close to it. Anyway, anyone with any comments please help me in my journey to finding out what to do with my life! Thank you!
I don't see any advantage to becoming a medical assistant. Why not go for that LPN?
Go for the LPN.
I'm doing the same in July.
I'm sure it will be worth it. Eventually, you can go for your RN as well.
Good luck!
I know a girl who went to medical assistant school, spent $8,000, and now that she's done, can't find a job ANYWHERE. Go for the LPN.
There's always the need for them, and later on down the line, if you want to become an RN, there's LPN to RN programs.
I say do the LPN program.....CMA's don't make squat where I live and those jobs are far and few between.....to me, that program's not worth it....the LPN program gives you the opportunity to bridge over to an RN in the future whereas the CMA won't.
