Hi Paris!

A pleasure to meet you. I work as a nurse case manager for the medical insurance industry. There is a great demand for nurses in this field. A strong clinical background, multi-tasking, and the ability to meet deadlines goes along with the territory.

Seems like in this field that along with the nursing shortage, it is difficult to find qualified nurses or nurses who are willing to stay long enough in managed care. I provide concurrent and retro review of patients that are inpatient in the hospital, to include out of network patients, and identify/refer those high risk patients into a program. Such as diabetics,
congestive heart failure, asthma/COPD, hypertension, etc. Nice to hear from you. It's a yucky cold wet day....trying to keep warm and toasty,
drinking some nice hot tea. Very Happy

Hi,

Your career sounds interesting. Do you make good money? I do not know if I could do managed care. It sounds like a lot of work.

Hi Paris,

For Southern California, the salary for LVN is $65K to 70K, for RN salary is 70K to 80K...sometimes even higher. Benefit pkg, PTO, 401K, other perks, etc. And yes, it can be demanding, stressful, deadlines to meet, guidelines to be followed, dealing with medical directors/physicians/
insurance companies/ discharge planners,/other case managers & medical facilities. The maze of the managed care industry is challenging to navigate through to say the least. In my opinion, nurse case managers earn every penny! As do all nurses regardless of whatever specialty that they work in. Hope this gives you an idea. It scratches the surface, but this is it in a nutshell. BTW, I am a LVN and have had my license for 22 years. Have an awesome weekend! Very Happy
