New LPN
Hi, I have a quick question. I am a graduate and have just obtained my LPN. I have applied to many, many jobs since February and have had some interviews. But nothing ever prevails. Why is it that after the interview new LPN's are not hired? I have heard it is due to "not enough experience". On the other hand, its just that HR doesn't want me, I can understand that (more experienced nurses). But how am I to get experience if I am not given the chance to get it?
I do not mean to sound like I am complaining, I am just very confused on how to get the experience that I am going to need.
What types
of positions are you applying for? Hospitals? Nursing homes? Home care?
I am looking for a position in a hospital or dr. office. I am not one of the special it takes to work in a long term care facility unfortunately.
LPN position
If you are willing to relocate you will find a job. I say take this opportunity to get RN license. Persistence is important as well as
presentation prior and during the interview.
Offer to volunteer on floor you want to work. The staff may request you be hired once you've shown your a hard worker. Negotiate an internship for no pay to earn your experience- 6-12 weeks will make the difference. A manager spends a lot on a new grad to orient and many leave immediately d/t overwhelmed. That loss is not ever recup.
