Thinking about Per Diem
Hey, are there any travelers out there who regularly work per diem shifts on their days off? I've never worked per diem before, but I think it sounds like a great way to make some extra money (especially with the holidays coming up). Can anyone offer any advice about working per diem? Is it weird working random shifts? Is it hard getting all of your paperwork in on time?
Hi there! I've worked per diem for about two years now and I love it...mostly for the flexibility. I really love being a nurse, but with two kids, I can't always work the shifts that a permanent job demands. I know I want to travel in the future, but for now the most important thing to me is being around to watch my kids grow up. Per diem let's me work when and where I want, without a lot of commitment. Some people don't like that you don't get to form relationships with your patients as much, so it all depends on what you want. Good luck...I hope to hear back from you about what you decided to do.
