Has anyone worked at any great hospitals in this area? Recommendations would be welcome.

Omaha, NE
I have worked in Omaha, NE for 7 years. I have experience at a number of the hospitals in the area.

Beware of Alegent Health! I loved the facilities that I worked with and the staff were awesome. Upper administration may not always be looking out for your best interests, but the employees are usually really great. I made a number of long-term friends working there. One bit of information---AVANTAS is the Alegent Health's float pool. Alegent Health has five area hospital and the float pool helps with staffing between the different sites. It is worth looking into if you want to make good money. It pays the higherst in the area. It is similiar to registry work pay ($30-48.00) depending on shift and days scheduled, etc. You do not get PTO time though.

Creighton University Medical Center is one of the two trauma centers in the area. I enjoyed working there, but I have not been there for almost four years. I hear that things have changed and patient loads can be chaotic.

My husband is a Nebraska Medical Center. I worked there per diem and it was a great place to work as a staff nurse. I know that they recently received their Magnet status. NMC would be a good choice for all specialties. They are a trauma center and also have a strong cardiac unit. If you enjoy children they have peds ICU-transplants too. They also have a NICU.

If you like children. Children's Hospital is a great choice. I have friends that have worked there for years and love it.

hope this information is helpful.
