I worked Kaiser in San Diego and I loved it. They have alot of travelers and are very friendly. The pay is pretty good for Southern California from what I am told.

Hi Jamie,
What company are you traveling with that has contracts with those hospitals? Thanks in advance.

Hello Jamie
Have been a travel nurse for several yrs now and to get a job in the San Diego area is tough. You have to jump on it right away when one becomes available. The pay there is not good at all. Neither is the housing reimbursement...compared to the northern half of the state.
San Diego is suppose to be one to the top spots to live in the US but hosing reimbursement does not reflect that at all. I don't know who comes up with the figures for the areas but they do a poor job. I know each company is different..but they all compare within a couple hundred dollars.
Another state that is hard to get a position is Hawaii...I do believe that recruiters save the best jobs for those that have been with their companies for awhile to continue to make them happy.
As far as working for Kaiser or Sharp...Sharp is the better. I have family that lives in San Diego area and they keep me abreast to some of the experiences they encounter while being patients there. That to me is a very important part of where I work. How my family member would be treated if they were there. Anyway just my opinion here...take it for what
you will.
Good Luck
