Anybody arrange their own housing for assignments?
I am finishing up my first assignment and found my own housing on craigslist....it is wonderful, couldn't have picked a better place, sight unseen. It's fully furnished, all I brought were my clothes and other personal stuff. I saved alot of money and received the company's stipend, so my weekly salary jumped up a lot. I'd like to do the same thing in Scottsdale, if anyone has any input I'd be happy to hear it. Also, if anyone is traveling to Santa Fe, NM I'd be happy to give you the name of my landlord to rent from if it's available, you won't be sorry.....
Travel Housing
I almost always arrange my own housing for two reasons:
1. If I arrange it, and there is any problem, the landlord is responsible to me.
2. I enjoy my privacy. I don't need a landlord threatening to report my personal habits (classical music, exercise routine etc) to my agency. (the one time I allowed the agency to arrange housing the landlord thought he could just enter any time he wanted to do plumbing or whatever....and I work nights and was sleeping when he wanted to be there to fix things....so he called my agency and complained falsely such that they threatened me with termination)
I use Automobile Club....AAA for my maps and housing....My favorite travel agent gets me "weekly" and "monthly" discounts on some very nice places, many with microwaves, refrigerators, coffee pots etc....some even with free breakfast and/or dinner
