Highland Hospital in Oakland (L&D)
Just word of advice for L&D nurses going to CA. Stay away from HIghland Hospital. I am finishing a contract here and it has been a place I wouldn't go back to. The staff is really shortstaffed and so you think they would welcome travellers, well I work days here and it is such a gong show! policies and procedures are way, dangerously, out of date. Some of the charge nurses are just rude! and will disapear for hours at a time while working, even though we are busy. A number of the midwives have power trips and are unecessarilyrude to staff and mostly travellers. staff regularly shows up late and I think it would almost kill them if they actually had to do some work for 12 hours. And the PP unit is also short staffed so travellers are floated there everyday.

Did you file a complaint?
Hi, my name is Christina and I'm a currently a nursing student Touro University. I here have some questions in regarding to being a travel nurse.

1. I heard some rumors that some staffs treat the travel nurses disrespectfully and give the travel nurses extra assignments. Is it true?

2. In referring to your case, did you file a complaint or report your situation to your supervisor?

My mum's currently working as a RN at Stanford Hospital. She told me that many travel nurses are working over there. They provide accommodations for the travel nurses and the benefits are great too ! Maybe you can consider to apply a job at Stanford Hospital.

Have a nice day.
Christina. Very Happy
