I am currently a 5 year travel RN I normally work in medsurg tele units I have 3 months of OR experience and would love to become RNFA. I am told that you need 2 years as circulator and then scrub. Any ideas on how to get into OR as a traveler??? and continue to RNFA?? Razz

Re RNFA
I will be starting my first travel assignment mid feb. My true passion is the OR, but I have yet to receive training in the OR. I also really really want to travel. My question to you is, how do you get in the OR as a traveler without any training? Question

My opinion is that it will be hard to find a facility that is willing to train you as an OR nurse while you are a traveler. Facilities like for travel nurses to come and work with minimal training. One-two days, a week at the most. It normally takes a minimum of 6months to orient to the OR. If you really want to work in the OR, you may want to consider working staff somewhere for a while. I love the OR and hope you get to work there soon!
