i am a nurse interested in working in the us. my partner has been already been offered a job in Florida, but i know application for nursing posts are very much different in the us. as i've only just been thinking about it, i have recently discovered that we have to take an exam in order to work in the us. is there any other useful information anyone can give me? i would really appreciate it as i'm looking forward to working in the us!

Exam
you do have to take an exam.. you have to be Lic in the US, to work in the US.. The US is a wonderfol place to live and work.. I understand that the Brits hate us so bad.. why come to a place you already hate? Just courious.. I have spoke to a few nurses from Germany who just hate the US but love the freedom we have and the money they are making.. but all the time bash us.. and One brit nurse who feels the same.. I say.. if you do not like us do not come.. good luck

ladynurse48 if you are unable to remain civil your access to these forums will be suspended. Amy_uk expressed nothing but interest in coming to the U.S. so your negative response was unwarranted.

Hi Amy,
I think you will enjoy the USofA. I'm on my first travel assignment in California, and love it. I have heard from other travelers that working in Florida can be a little rough because of the pay and the nurse/pt. ratio, but I haven't been there. I have lived and worked in Arkansas for the past 13 yrs and have worked with alot of nurses from England, Ireland and Scotland at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock, many of whom have made it their home. Good luck with your travels.
