RE: TRYING to OBTAIN RN
I am an LVN trying to FINISH my RN. I was in a RN BSN nursing program in Northern CA. I had health issues and an issue with an instructor. So, I had to take a leave of absence. I went to another university to see if they would be more student friendly. They want me to take my RN courses ALL over again, since they are 5 years old. These are RN courses that I received " B " grades in. Or I am suppose to take an expensive exam to challenge. I have 67,000.00 in student loans. I have aq B. A. in Sociology. So, do I need a BSN? I need a classroom for my information. IT helps a lot better than online. I think. PLEASE someone give me some help.
DESPERATE LVN trying to become REAL NURSE.
Thank you
Diana
first of all, i realize the play on words but an lvn is a real nurse and do not sell yourself short, I am a rn but i have workded along side some lvns that have really been a big asset to the nursing team. second, how long have you been and lvn? have you work as an lvn every since you got your lis. some schools will not make you retake your expired classes if you have stayed in that field all along. it would definitly be worth checking into another school or two if this is your case.
RE: TRYING to OBTAIN RN
I have been an LVN for 24 years and have worked for almost 24 years. Spent the last 10 years in school trying to get my RN BSN. I have CALLED three other universities as well as community colleges and received the same response.
Any other suggestions?
Diana
Try another state. In Colorado, they have tried to eliminate the need for nurses to repeat classes they have already taken, even if they are old.
trying to obtain rn from LVN
Should I move to COLORADO?
I don't think I can afford that.
