Already a graduate but Planning to get Nursing
Help!

I'm currently working full-time as a bank teller/accounts assistant earning $11/hr. I graduated with AB-Communication Arts from a different country and I've been looking to take a Nursing career for over a year now.

Yes I know I've switched into a lot of different types of jobs Confused. I was raised in the Philippines and graduated college there then suddenly my visa was approved, so my educational decisions weren't fit according to the majore change that my life had undergone.

I wanted to get into nursing and I've been researching over the net for ways on getting into the nursing-lifestyle.

My question is, since I'm already a graduate (graduated from Philippines- if that even counts as something for my nursing career), what should I be taking to begin with? lvn? cna? or can i already start bsn?

thank you very much in advance, i truly am a lost sheep Crying or Very sad

I would recommend that you work as a CNA for at least one year before you consider a nursing degree. You need to understand the reality of nursing before you consider another career change, and working as a CNA is a good place to start. If, after a year of doing this type of work, you still think you would like to go to nursing school, then by all means, get your BSN. But make sure that this is really what you want to do first.

thank you ginger! i really am sure that i want to get into this career for good.
getting back on getting a cna, do i need to get a course or license to be one before i can actually go to work? i was planning to do the job part-time first on weekends since i still need my current job to support for some bills and my upcoming school if i needed to take some for cna.

i really appreciate your response and am excited to join the world of nursing Smile
