STAMFORD, Conn. - The highest nursing home costs in the country are in the Stamford area, a national survey has found. Private rooms at nursing homes in the Stamford region cost an average of $394 a day and $144,000 a year, according to the survey by Westport-based MetLife Mature Market Institute.
