Venting
Is critical care any better? I work on a medical floor and last night I had eight patients, 14 IVPB, 2 units of blood and 2 units of albumin. When I finally got off at 0830 my managent couldn't understand why I requested a trasnfer request form. That was probably my most miserable night ever but it seems all nights are just getting heavier and heavier loads.
We need to have our voices heard...
Until nurses start participating in the nursing associations where we can make our voices heard, things will not change. It is too bad California is the only state with set nurse/patient ratios. This is not only a night shift problem, it is on days as well.
