Any PACU Nurses out there
Hey I was recently considering a change. I have worked a little over two years on a med surg floor mostly surgical. I was thinking about moving to the PACU. Anyone who has any experience with that area I would appreciate some input as to what a typical day is like...hours...did you like it...good things...bad things. Anything thanks
You know that if you work PACU then you have to be "on call" and "on call" sucks.
My suggestion is to work critical care for a couple of years. If you want the PACU experience, go to a critical care that recovers there own patients like Cardiothorcic ICU, Liver ICU, Neuro-Surgical ICU or even some renal transplant patients (even though most of them go to the floor unless it a peds patient in PICU).
Good luck!
