DES MOINES (AP) - A northwest Iowa woman convicted in the choking death of a nursing home resident has lost her appeal. The Iowa Court of Appeals has rejected the appeal of Christie Van Oort of Rock Valley. She pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 50 years in prison.
