Protesters urge reopening of Hempstead hospital (Newsday)


Calling the lack of a functioning hospital nearby a "shame" and an "embarrassment," almost 60 people rallied in the Village of Hempstead Saturday to urge that a shuttered hospital be reopened as a nonprofit health center.
