HealthDay - (HealthDay News) -- If your child's sweet tooth is wreaking havoc with your plans for a healthy diet, here's a list of suggestions, courtesy of the University of Michigan Health System:

Allow a moderate amount of sweet treats -- but don't ban sweets entirely from your child's diet. Declaring them taboo may only make your child want them more.
Don't keep lots of sweets around the house.
When you do allow your child to have sweets, be sure to limit the amount.
Try to save sweets for dessert, rather than as a snack. The sugar will be better tolerated after a healthy meal than when eaten alone.
