Expected salary for head nurses?
I'm fairly new at management. I've gone from night manager to evenings to head nurse in 8 months. Granted I was at the right place at the right time but I am also good at what I do. Any thoughts or experiences from anyone in the Northeast as to what salary I should expect. We are a large hospital on long island. I am the head nurse of a 43 bedded telemetry unit.
$71,475 to $84,281 is the salary range for the type of position you are talking about in my area, but the Northeast is a big area. I've also seen salaries as low as $55000/year.
$68,071 to $80,268 is the national average, $79,644 to $93,913 is normal for NYC.
BTW, Head Nurses in San Francisco command $80,324 to $94,716/year.
