Joe Gilene, administrator of Levine Children's Hospital since November 2004, has resigned, effective Aug. 31. The 12-story children's hospital, under construction at Carolinas Medical Center, is expected to open in 2007.Gilene, a Cincinnati native, will be replaced by Martha Whitecotton, CMC's vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer for the four CMC acute-care hospitals
