In need of advice from the sages.
Hello all.

I need some advice.

I am going to graduate from nursing school in December (Happy Day!!)
and I am trying to decide if I should work on the medical floor for a while or go straight into a specialized field such as the ER or to ICU.

To help you understand my dilemma better I am a veteran Paramedic and have worked in the ER prior. I really enjoy that area of medicine However nursing is a whole different monster from paramedicine.

Any advice you could give me would be great

Thanks

What are your goals?

I was told the same about med/surg. Didn't listen, went straight to a cardiothoracic stepdown unit and value that experience.

I left that floor and went to a float pool for 3 years. Did it all from ortho to med-surg to tele.

You know what, I am back in a cardiothoracic ICU. If you want to do med/surg, go for it. If you love ER and know that is where you want to end up, why delay that?

Good Luck
