More hospital beds (Kansas City Star)


Fast-growing eastern Jackson County is harvesting a bumper crop of new and renovated hospitals. St. Luke’s East-Lee’s Summit last week opened a 52-bed hospital, part of its new $130 million medical campus on Douglas Street south of Interstate 470. The hospital includes an obstetrical unit, which means babies are being born at a Lee’s Summit hospital for the first time in perhaps 60 years.
